Is it possible that Tom was doing the job slowly already, slower than the 4 hours that it normally takes you?
Honestly, I would stay out of it. I love to be the person who stands up for others, but dammit, it has only brought me pain. So I'm going to say, keep your head down and do your job. Let others worry about their job.
