If you want a budgie to talk you need to get a male budgie. If you put a mirror in it's cage then it thinks there is another bird around. You can tell they are male by the blue sear (area above the beak). Hens are brown. Mind you you can't tell what sex they are until they are a little older. If you want it to talk then it needs to be on it's own.

Budgies are flock birds so maybe getting a pair would be best so that they have company. They do make lovely chirping sounds.

Budgies are good small pets that dont have the the need to be walked. Just a change of water each day, seed and a clean cage.
