As far as your question goes... I don't know.

It could be they made a mistake. It could be the place you were referred to treats other conditions in addition to autism. Or it could be your psychiatrist suspects you may be on the autism spectrum. It's difficult to know.
I'm fairly confident they're not making fun of you. But it is true I believe, based on my own experiences, that sometimes what a person gets in the way of helpful communication from mental health professionals falls short of what it should be.

I suspect what you've experienced here is mostly an example of less than stellar communication on the part of your psychiatrist & her / his staff. My suggestion would be to simply call them & clarify their intentions. (Oh, & by the way, please keep posting here on PC too!)
