Carmina, if I could afford it, I would so get help with cleaning. I have had the same problem that you are having. Although right now, I can't justify it.
I think you have to just bite the bullet and get over the embarrassment. I mean, that's why they are there, to clean, you know? My SIL used to clean before having the cleaners come over and I was always like, WHY? What is the point?
I am also the same about my privacy/space being disturbed. So much so that I don't even call my apartment maintenance if I can help it.
But maybe you will feel better once your place is clean?
