Music can be a trigger like everything else. Music is often emotive so can form strong associations with certain events, traumas, feelings etc and these can get triggered up really easily.
When I was a child my family had the radio playing all the time. They listened to music and to talk back shows. I can't tolerate any form of talkback radio now - it triggers me to switch because it has such strong negative associations with all the traumas of my childhood. If talkback radio comes on anywhere I really can't handle it. Any popular music from those decades of childhood trigger me in just the same way.
I really don't listen to music much even now. I have some favorite songs that I play somtimes.
That sounds really rough. I'm sorry that you have to put up with such things. Do you carry ear plugs? That may help for when you are somewhere where you can't control the music/talk and have to get away from it.
