When I was living in transitional housing, which I won't say I hated because the alternative was a homeless shelter, but it was definitely sub optimal, I did everything I could to get out during the day. I went to coffee shops, libraries, malls, any place I could hang out and kill time.
I don't know if you're living with other people - I was living with 29 other women, I tried not to get involved in the drama. After dinner, I'd retreat to my room with my computer and listen to music, watch DVD's or surf - I paid extra for my own internet but it was worth it. Or you may find getting involved with other people helpful - your call if relevant.
Good luck.
