Hi Jello, I have been thinking of detoxing my system too. I read about a diet to follow that involves drinking only freshly squeezed lemonade or something (with cayenne pepper)--I'm not sure. You do this for several days, and it cleanses your system. I think it is a famous detox diet and can be found on the Internet. I'm not sure that is what you are looking for.
High levels of cortisol come from too much stress. To reduce cortisol, reduce the stress in your life by eliminating stressful life situations, downsizing one's responsibilities, cultivating a network of supportive friends and family, practicing relaxation exercises such as meditation, warm baths, getting regular exercise, etc. High levels of cortisol can cause depression (stress-induced depression), anxiety, raise blood pressure, etc.
