Just returned from daughter's boyfriend's parent's house. I'm so glad I got rid of the green bean casserole and the apple pie; only have a little bit of the whipped garlic potatoes left. They also had ham and assorted appetizers. It was really good and a lot of fun, but his mother is still about to make some hard decisions about her parents (putting them in assisted living) and she's burned out from taking care of them. The rest of the family helps, but she is worried about them. Plus their dog is ill to the point of not being able to move her back legs at all. So a little bit of sadness with that, but it was still enjoyable.
