That's as far as I'd let myself dwell. It's not your fault. You tried and it didn't work. If you want fault, they may not know as much as they should if they thought your equipment could keep up? I don't think they would have invited you in the first place though if they didn't want you working with them; they may be disappointed too that it hasn't worked out and not been thinking "sympathy" job as much as enjoying having you around and wishing you could stay and scrambling to try and think of a way to keep you.
