I am posing this question based on my personal experience. Former friends who knew about my MI openly told me “I do not have the time and energy to deal with your problems. I have my own. Call the suicide hotline or go to ER. Good luck”.
I never heard from them again. So, if it were coming from a caring and a compassionate place, would they have followed up with me?
I cannot help but think that some of them clearly did not care and some wanted me to be in worse position.
Fall, this is exactly what I'm talking about. It's an out for them. They don't want to hear us or help us, and think that a hospital will help, when in fact, the hospital will.most likely only traumatize. Even when you voluntarily admit yourself, if you decide it's not helpful and want to check out, they threaten to involuntarily commit you so they can keep you and continue to charge your insurance.

It's a cop out.
