That is wonderful that your medication changes have made such positive differences! For me, Lamictal and Geodon were very side effect friendly for a long time, especially in terms of weight. I was always slim when they were primary meds. I hope they will be for you. I have never taken Valium, but think Ativan is great for what it's meant to do.
I had to respond regarding parrots. I LOVE parrots, too. Maybe my username hints at that? I also just uploaded his picture as my avatar. Though my psychiatrist doesn't have a parrot, his sister has 12 large macaws in her house. Imagine? My psychiatrist said that some of his patients have brought their dogs to his office before, and that I could someday bring my parrot. My little bird boy is still young. I want to be sure he'd be very well behaved before I bring him. Do you currently have a parrot? If so, what kind? Mine is a Hahn's macaw.
