Wow, that's incredible. Foxes are very sneaky and it's hard to catch a glimpse of them.
I remember the spring I first moved to Montana. I was running on a trail, and I saw these little squirrel like creatures ahead of me on the trail...OMG, when I got up close, they were baby foxes! I had come across a whole family crossing the trail. The mama fox had run off to hide, but the babies were slow to follow because they weren't afraid of people yet.
