I'd like to think that my former T would have her memory jogged if I came back to her practice, but if she ran into me at the supermarket I'm not sure she would (although, I do have very distinctive hair).
I come from a family of teachers, and my mom remembers all her students. Of course, she knows some students more than others. In my mind, therapy is the same way. I don't think therapists are able to truly erase a client from their memory, unless maybe a client only saw them once or twice. But I choose to believe that clients stick with therapists - not that the therapists think about us constantly or even at all, but if they saw us again, they would remember us.
Maybe that's just wishful thinking, though.
