I found that buying stuff for pre and post surgery somehow eased some of the fears. I used some things, didn't use others but it helped at some level. Then ... I had to carry the bag I bought to hospital back out after surgery and it was so heavy I tore stitches. The next surgery I packed much lighter but still was well prepared before and after
