I'm sorry. Depression is quite hard, and it's hard to remember a past attempt. Is the smoking making your depression worse? I know that it can have an impact, that's for sure.
Personally, I have never smoked, but at least here in Ontario, Canada, there has been a lot of ads lately about quitting smoking. I can keep remembering the phrase over and over again. "It takes multiple attempts to quit smoking. But don't stop trying (to quit)." Something like that.
