My grandmother hasn't been doing well. She hasn't slept in over two days.
Yesterday, we brought her to the hospital because she was experiencing severe psychosis that was worse than we've ever seen. The ER doctors ran a bunch of medical tests to rule out any medical conditions that could be contributing to the increase in psychosis. Nothing. They sent her home and did nothing.
When we got home, she was actually fine and calm, but within 10 minutes, the psychosis was even worse than it was before. So we had to rush her to a different hospital that actually had a psych ward at 5pm, and she was finally admitted at 2am today after being awake for idk how long.
We saw her in the hospital today and the drs said she didn't sleep at all last night. She's been awake for more than two days straight.
She was hunched over and leaning forward as she walked, which is something we've never seen before. And her psychosis was so bad that she wasn't interpreting any of her surroundings correctly. She kept thinking walls were doors ("no, no! that's not a wall. see? that's a door!") and everything she saw freaked her out. She also kept thinking her mother was alive and that she had to go cook for her.
All in all, she looked miserable. Depressed. I felt so bad for her. And 3 hours after we left, she was so tired that she fell face forward on the ground, hitting the side of her face on the floor. She must've been so tired that she just couldn't stay awake. She now has to get a CT scan to make sure there's no brain damage.
