I'm no royalist either, but I have really enjoyed watching the Crown. The writers have given the queen some great and poignant dialogue, it's hard to believe that she was that eloquent and articulate in practice when those events happened, but I found it to be an engaging dramatization. You might enjoy the episode when the Kennedy's visited Buckingham Palace and magnificently ignored the protocol (why the hell should anyone be told how to greet the Queen?). It sounds nice that you have those moments of genuine connection with your T.
