I was on geodon for about a year. It was a nightmare. It caused me massive dystonia and anxiety. After taking it, I would also become extremely sleepy then feel anxious then have dystonia. I hated that medication. I was happy to have success with Abilify although initially it also caused me insomnia, anxiety, and psychosis. It took about 3 months before I had some positive benefits from Abilify. I stuck it out with Abilify because I did not want to go back on Geodon and am glad I did. I have been on it continually for the past 5 years now and have not been hospitalized during this time. I have some drooling and muscle aches but this is about it. I also went off Abilify before and ended up in the hospital each time I went off. I finally realized daily compliance is the key to stability. I am now working, living independently, and am happy.
