I have RLS which has also resulted in PLMD. (Period Limb Movement Disorder.) RLS is treatable by several different meds. (I take Mirapex, a Parkinson's medication.) Since it only affects me when I'm sleeping, or trying to go to sleep, I would certainly classify it as a sleep disorder.
I'm actually wondering if my depression imbalance is somehow connected. There are several anti-depressants that don't get along with Parkinson meds. Would be nice if it disappeared when my head gets straight. It started several years ago, right about the time my downward slide did. I don't expect it to just go away, but it certainly would be nice.
For the PLMD, I found eliminating caffeine reduced the occurrences. My partner says I repeat the same exact "twitch" every 22 seconds on the nose. Could be a leg, a hand or my whole body. Usually lasts a few hours and does not wake me like the RLS does.
