I wish, now, that I had submitted the paperwork to change my last name on my 18th birthday.
Not that I don’t have pride in my ancestry but I have devoted so much time in correcting others as they repetitiously attempt to pronounce my name and I have to interrupt them with the correct pronunciation and
then I have to explain the entire 17th century Charleston, SC slave-trade scheme and the migration (flight of fear) from the east coast to the west...

No, Davy Jones would just remind others of death (Davy Jones’ Locker) or The Monkees.
I’ve always thought that Earnest (spelled with the ‘a’) was a fine, even noble, name.
Perhaps you could devise a poll with, oh, six names, maximum, for others to vote on?
