I tried it. I live in a rural area and I wanted a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. They matched me with one that did not. I'm pretty decent at expressing myself in writing, so I poured out my long sad story of a lifelong struggle with eating. I told her all the things I have tried, about when I was successful and when I wasn't. Her suggestion was "well have you tried eating more vegetables?" Seriously? Did she think that I had never thought of that? And besides that I was hiring a therapist, not a nutritionist.
So I asked to change therapists. The next one looked like she was about 15. She also didn't have any expertise in eating disorders. So I contacted the site and asked them what was going on. They promised that they had 2000 therapists to choose from...how come they couldn't find me one that had training in eating disorders? Well turns out that they have to match you with a therapist who lives in your state. And I live in a small state, so there were only like four therapists total.
I did find their customer service very responsive. And they gave me my money back when I couldn't find a therapist that worked for me. I ended up finding one somewhat near me that I drive to see. I guess I would maybe try it again. I still think that it could maybe work for me with the right therapist. But I'd lie about where I live...
