I think the people that creep inside us are ones that we trust, and so we believe anything they say. It is so hard to not believe someone we take as an authority. I had a therapist do that to me once: after a long time in therapy I had come to trust him, and then he started issuing (very negative) judgements on what I told him about things I had done. I was completely unprepared for it, and it did get right inside of me.
