the one thing that helped me in this situation was actually 2 things... one letting my therapist know when I was suicidal or self injuring. and 2 getting the official diagnosis from my treatment providers who wrote a statement on my files stating I had DID and had some introjects and dissociative type alters that were self injurers, suicidal. then we also contacted the police department and made a report with them about my having DID, suicidal/ self injuring alters and what our treatment plans are in the event that my alters or I needed police help. we also contacted the area ER's, and other emergency centers and gave them a statement for their files too.

this way when I or my alters called the police or went to the ER we got the help needed.

my suggestion talk with your treatment providers. maybe they will help you work with all these other agencies that you may need help from like police departments and hospital ER's, if you are not officially diagnosed under the new diagnostics you might want to go through the new process so that legally all these agencies that you might need to work with in emergency situations can see on your records that you have DID and able to help you follow what ever treatment plans you and your mental health treatment providers are working on.
