When I stopped drinking/drugs I took up some creative hobbies. When I was a kid I was very creative and I wanted to go back to that. I tried painting, drawing, coloring books, writing, music... what stuck with me was painting (I'm bad at it but it's fun), coloring books (good distractions from urges) and music (I have played guitar for most of my life, and I am learning piano now). It's not a 100% successful thing of course but I have been working really hard to channel my negative addictive impulses into positive creative actions.
