Actually IF total income including SSI/SSDI is above a certain amount then the total is taxible but this small amount would not put the taxable income above that taxible amount then only the amount above that income level gets taxed but SSI /SSDI income is included in determining that gross income amount.

That mostly catches those with the highest SSI/SSDI incomes who work also.
