no here where I am located they do not put someone in a medically induced coma for mental disorders. it is used for physical problems where the body needs time to heal broken bones, and brain injuries. example a friend of mine was placed in a medically induced coma when she was hit by a car. her body was so damaged physically including her brain and other organs. they gave her medicine to keep her in a coma while her body physically healed.

that said i have been in mental health units where it was a situation where I was so out of it and harming myself and a danger to others, to the point where they had to .......tranquilize.... me with anti psychotics ( give me medication that would relax me and allow me to get some much needed sleep.)

my suggestion is talk with your treatment providers they can look at your health records and tell you if you were in a medically induced coma and why.
