No, definitely they do not put you in a coma in a psych ward. Psych wards do not have the facil7ty for breathing machines ir the nursing staff capable of knowing anything about how they function. The only place in a hosputal equiped for that kind of treatment is ICU. They eoyldn't even allow me in the psych ward any time I even had an IV like after an OD or when I was dealing with anirexia. They would wheel me into groups when I was well enough for that but my room & care at that time was always under medical staff.
I actually ended up in a coma after an OD ehen I was being checked out of the psych ward (long story). I dont remember anything but when I came to after 24 hours, I was in ICU & they told me I had been in a coma from the pills I had swallowed & was on a breathing maching until I could breathe on my own again....so I know from personal experience that any kind of coma lands a person in the ICU, not in the psych ward.
I have sern them give difficult patients drugs to knock them out & give them the rest they really need, hoping to break the cycle of agressive behavior.
My grandmother was an aggressive altzheimers patient. They were gave her haldol to calm her down. Most times it would break the cycle of where the brain was at in 8t's aggressive state.
That is probable what you REALLY experienced. The mind can do strange things with past experiences when actually unaware of what is really happening. It dort of fills in the blanks with ideas that aren't quite accurate.
