I only had the flu once when I was a kid & the Asian fku was epidemic. Had it at Christmas to top it ALL off.
My psrents made me get a flu shot when I was in high school....(late 70's) got so sick right after getting the shot back when they used live virus, I swore I would NEVER have a flu shot again.
Fast forward this year at 65, I came down with a scratchy throat (not sore) & laryngitis that stuck with me all December. Then on Christmas day when an elderly friend of mine died & I was out in 0F temps all week helping my other friend prepare for the funeral & house sit her dogs while she was away, I started coughing bad. My friend is a PA & when she got back in town & heard me, decided I had bronchitis & said take musinex to break up the congestion & ibuprofen for body ache & any fever. I had absolutely no temp with this but bidy ache & fatigue. Didnt get to stay home till after the Saturday funeral & collapsed in bed for 2 weeks because I knew if I went out in the cold it would turn into pneumonia as I had it often growing up. Turned out I got better without taking anything except the musinex.
Then last week I got dizzy when showering. Ended up with an intestinal bug & dizziness & a littke sick to my stomach & absolutely NO temperature.
If tgis is as bad as any of it gets, I will still avoid the flu shots. I have a pharmacist friend who just retired & had owned his own pharmacy & ended up head pharmacist at a local big pharmacy that had bought him out. He agrees with me to try & let your OWN immune systen take care of you UNLESS your immune system is compromised then it is necessary to take all precautions necessary.
Allergies are also tied to one's immune system & since moving here I havent hqd one allergy problem either.....so for now, I am just letting my body twke care of itself until it proves it can't.
I live alone on my farm. I don't go to town much except for a few errands. I socialize but not so much this time of year with all the cold weather so mostly I stay healthy without really taking any specific precautions & not worried either.
