I wanted to share that I heard a really excellent analogy yesterday, and I wanted to see if anyone else related to it. The person, who has DID, said it was like driving a car:

Sometimes you're in the driver's seat, the passenger seat, the back seat, or the trunk. (Parts can be in these positions too.) So, like, if you're in the passenger seat, you are really aware of everything going on/being said, but aren't driving. If you're in the back, maybe a bit less aware, because you can't fully see, but still aware. In the trunk? total blackout.

For me, when I am not driving, I am almost always in the passenger seat or, less frequently, the backseat. And, when I am driving, I typically have a couple front-seat passengers, some of whom like to unexpectedly grab the wheel, and maybe someone in the backseat and a couple in the boot.

Can anyone else relate to this analogy?
