If this latest incident has caused people to think about their privacy online that is a good outcome in my view. I'm not so much worried about the random person out their but rather someone who knows I have a mental illness deliberately looking for posts on a bipolar forum.
For instance, let's say you got involved with a new person who told you they had a mental illness and what their diagnosis was. A lot of people go on facebook to find out more about their new (and old) friends but if this person had nothing on facebook, or you didn't use facebook, wouldn't you be tempted to look them up on forums.
Let's say further, that the person said they posted online on forums. Some people have a lot of free time on their hands.
