I believe we "exist" in some form after death. Yes, I've felt a presence of someone I've lost--both human and animal. Years ago, I felt like "something" was behind me, watching me...while I was sorting through my aunt's stuff. She had passed recently. No one could have gotten in, as the doors were locked in that part. But I just felt like someone was there. I believe it was her spirit, watching me and saying goodbye.
Also, years ago, I lost a feline friend who actually belonged to my boyfriend at the time. But she was my baby too (my current avatar too). After she passed, I swear I felt her little paws walking on me, like she used to do. I don't think I was dreaming; I think it was her spirit or soul "walking" on me.
I visit a friend's grave now & then, and I "feel" his presence, like he knows I'm there. And that he "hears" me.
Maybe none of this is true, but it gives me comfort and is what I believe. I don't believe in heaven/hell.....or God. And I believe a soul can have "unfinished business" so they stick around in this world until ready to cross over...wherever that may be.
In a nutshell, I believe death is the beginning of another place.
