I realize that's a lot of contradictions and a messy state to be in, and I don't expect anyone to have any glaring insights!

I haven't had this much ambivalence about therapy for many years. Mostly, I go and I make some progress... or not. I guess other people feel this way around other holidays. Some people are really triggered by Christmas; or an anniversary of certain events. I guess that's me, today with Valentine's day.

The combination of a series of bad T moments AND Valentine's Day AND my single status has me wanting to hide or freak out.

I've eaten three cupcakes and it's not even 10 AM.
Don't even sweat it, I have had this feeling and dread around Valentine's Day for YEARS. You want to hear the irony of all of this? I have my yearly psych-evaluation with my psychiatrist later today!! Years ago, I would be an absolute mess going to one of these appointments during this day, but I don't know, with all the blessings I have been counting, and just making through each day, I have become stronger than ever. Granted, I am not technically single, (not committed, but definitely loved), and I think I am just okay with that.

I think as you get older, you may find you will let go of a lot of that anxiety you may feel surrounding a day like today, or you might just run into the potential partner you have been hoping for in the long run. But don't let that stop you from living, and enjoying the moments of today.

(By the way, I am getting totally dolled up for the psych-evalution because I am going to dinner by myself to treat myself for being stronger than I have ever been. Yeah, I might get weird stares and looks, but eh, screw it!).

Happy birthday Monday Mike! You should totally tell her. It would be nice to hear her birthday wishes no? It might make you feel good.
