Lithium ER seemed to be weight neutral during the 6 years I took it. Sometimes I was on another medication that was not so weight friendly, but when that less weight friendly medication's dose was lowered or it was eliminated my weight tended to stay stable.

I actually lost almost 40 lbs in the past on the combination of Lithium ER, Geodon, Lamictal, and another weight friendly med. Of course I had to diet to lose the weight, but the dieting was not too hard. I don't believe Lithium ER ever increased my appetite for food in any major way. The only consumption it increased in me was liquid consumption. I was thisty all of the time. I think that if you stick with water and other low or no calorie beverages, then there may not be a major problem. Some people say they put on a little water weight. I'm not quite sure what happens to those that say Lithium did increase their weight in any significant way.
