I had to get my passport in a week when I was flying to Rome on short notice. I didn't have my birth certificate. Never had it, only the hospital certificate tgat was NOT thebreal thing. I lived in Los Angeles & the day before I was flying out, I was in down town LA Trying to get all my paperwotk in order....BC & Passport. It was stressful but I was successful by putting my own legs into the process.

This reminds me though, I heard that our KY drivers licences are no longer good for flying ID & i may be making an emergency flught to Calif thebend if March. I better research this & get what I need. While there I need to get my old passport so I can get it updated in the future. For the time being there is an ID card they make that is acceptable to the airlines. I flew tons of times when I first moved here but they weren't as picky then & I had a Calif drivers licence then anyway.
