That's the mantra of some. Not all. I wonder how widely respected Torrey is amongst the mental health community in general. I do not have an impression of whether he is or not. I have read that some consider him to be "controversial."
For me personally, no medications have helped; they have not been toxic to me, but they have not helped. In that sense they led me astray. I still get "pressured" occasionally to take them, and to resist that causes me some anxiety.
