jbug,
Be very careful with this med......it increases the dopomine (sp?) & can cause parkinson's type side effects. I know...it happened to me. I couldn't even get my hands to coordinate to feed myself. I couldn't chew. I couldn't even walk myself to the bathroom or take a shower by myself. My husband would walk me to the bathroom in the morning before he went to work. I would uncomfortable sit on my day bed (because I couldn't even lay down anymore) for the 12+ hours he was at work & as soon as he got home, he would walk me to the bathroom to I could go again. Until they realized at the ER that it was a reaction to the thorazine, I was really scared......then when it didn't go away after stopping the med, I continued to be scared. I went to my neuroligist (I had gone to several years before)....come to find out that I was being given compozine for my nausea tied to my migraines.....same effect as the thorazine.....so it was a double whammie....it took over 1 month for the med effect to get out of my system...& the fear that it was permanent was horrible.
Honestly, there are better meds that can be used & after that horrible side effect, I wouldn't care if it was the last drug on earth....the price was way to high.
I have major depression recurrent & major anxiety issues....not what they usually use thorazine for, but they were grasping at straws to find anything that might work for me because of all the other horrible side effects I had with all the other AD/anti anxiety meds they had tried on me.
I hope you can find something that works for you, but honestly, when the possible side effects are as great as they are with thorazine, I don't think I would let them put those chemicals into my body......meds are scarry for me because of the horrible reactions I have had.....but just beware.
Take care,
Debbie
