I am pretty good at interpreting my own dreams. Dreams are very symbolic but the symbols are not necessarily universal. An apple in one person's dream can symbolize something completely different from an apple in another person's dream. Just try to be open to listening to your unconscious and what it has to tell you, and the meanings will emerge. If you have a therapist, you can work through some dreams with him/her and learn some good skills. My therapist uses the Gestalt dreamwork approach and I have learned a lot from this. One question he often will ask me about a dream is where the energy of the dream lies. This helps us identify the most important part of the dream and the "main message."
Because dreams are often a topic of discussion in one's psychotherapy sessions, they are also frequently discussed in the psychotherapy forum here on PC. So you may get some good answers if you post your question there.
