Those were the best of times.
Playing House? How could I forget? Once, a huge branch fell out of a maple tree in the front yard of our house. I think it got knocked down by savage winds in a pretty bad storm. Anyways, my friends and I would use the branch as a house with each and every alcove made by the branch well, er, branching out, so to speak, as a separate room. We'd even pluck the leaves off of it on occasion, rolled them up, and pretended they were cigarettes.

Which brings me to another thing not done anymore.

-Candy cigarettes for kids. I remember those bubblegum cigarettes you could get that had powder sugar in them and when you blew into them, the powder sugar would blow out in a puff of "smoke" like a real cigarette. That only happened for the first and sometimes the second blow, and then all that was left to do was tear off the wrapper and chew the bubblegum. I also remember there were these candy cigarettes that were thin white sticks of hard candy. You could put them in your mouth and pretend like you were smoking real cigarettes, but they wouldn't do anything like the bubblegum ones did.

Now such novelties aren't around for obvious reasons.
