I am currently living in a HUD owned Boarding Home for people with Bipolar Disorder run by a mental health organization. A former roommate of mine was offered a voucher by one of the head case workers to get her own subsidized apartment.

We were told that the voucher was not a Housing Choice Section 8 Voucher but one or two that's given to the mental health organization once in awhile and are very rare.

I'm supposedly the next one in line to receive one but I hardly know anything about them to do any research on the web.

I was wondering if anyone knows the name of this type of voucher and why they are so rare? The case workers do not really offer too much information about them.
