Oarfish lives in deep ocean. When they are found in the surface, mostly they are dead or dying. There's a myth about washed oarfish indicate the earthquake. The myth is considered to be true.
"Deep-sea fish living near the sea bottom are more sensitive to the movements of active faults than those near the surface of the sea."
The most known case is in 2011 Japan Tsunami. Around 20 oarfishes stranded some time before the earthquake.
