I also remember the gas lines. I was quite little. I remember waiting in the car with my parents, who were pretty grumpy - and it was hot in CA - for like, forever, and finally when we were nearing the front the owner(?)/attendant said, "that's it. we're closed."
The guy in front of us had a huge 1970s fit! White-guy curly-fro going everywhere while he cursed out the attendant into last week! As for us, we just drove to Jack in the box and ordered 1/2 dozen burgers with no bread or tomato or anything, for our beloved golden/lab mix and ONWARD... because, wtf, what you gonna do?!
