I'm neutral on the MJ. I think it can both help, and hurt things. It depends on how, when, and where you are smoking, and what kind you are smoking. I do not know much about it but there are different strains and types that may be helpful to some people depending on the situation. I know from some experience that when I had a significant and serious depressive episode a couple years ago, if I smoked a little bit a couple times a week with a friend of mine, I felt so much better and was able to accomplish a lot more (basics like eating and showering) even though I was still struggling big-time. It's unfortunate that MJ is 'illegal' in some places, because places where it is not, you can talk to shop owners and they can recommend different strains for different situations and conditions. In general, too much of anything can be bad, so if people are smoking a lot, it's probably a good idea to minimize it if you choose to smoke. But in general, if someone said to me that they smoke MJ now and then vs. alcohol or cigarettes, I would much rather see them smoke MJ once in awhile and completely avoid alcohol and nicotine.
