Several months back, I told MD I felt like I was on too many things and he bargained with me a little and said we could try reducing lamictal some and see how it goes.

I went from 200 BID to 200 AM and 100 PM. The plan was to drop the morning dose to 100 after a few weeks.

Everything was fine initially. Several days in I started getting bad headaches. I didn't think anything of it. Then they got worse and worse by the day, started having bad nausea alongside the headaches. By probably day 7, the nausea turned into puking and just feeling awful. I also felt really irritated and internally agitated. Which is how I have felt when I skipped doses before.

I eventually started to make the connection after asking myself "what is different". I bumped the night dose up again to 200. Headaches stopped, and have never came back.

Told MD about it and he was a little perplexed but said there was obviously a connection and to stay on the 200 BID, which I have done since. I don't recall a headache, even mild, ever since.

Was weird.

As you reduce the dose, just keep a watchful eye on things. And go as slow as possible, even if it seems like you are going too slow.

I know that was kind of a doom and gloom story, but wanted to share it.

I do think it's possible for you to successfully reduce the dose.

Keep focusing on non-med stuff too, be it exercise, not isolating, good sleep hygiene, etc.

I wish you the best.

That’s all I was looking for. I’ve been on 250mg for almost three weeks now and am ready to go down again, I’m waiting to hear back from my p doc. Lamictal is the only drug I am on.
Thanks for this!
