I hope it's okay to join this thread. I've recently started back on the road to eating healthy and getting back into an active lifestyle again. I try not to think of it as dieting and exercise, not like a chore, but as getting back to the things I enjoy in my life. Honestly, I enjoy being active and running, biking, swimming, etc., and I like the taste of healthy, well-prepared meals over fast food or junk food, but as I dipped to the low of depression and anxiety the past few years, my activity level went from a marathon runner to nonexistent and my eating habits went from healthy and diverse to Wendy's and Cadbury Eggs. And dammit if Easter isn't coming up so those damn eggs are everywhere again. Lol. The Russian roulette game of medication didn't help me maintain a healthy weight either.
I have been fairly good this past week, and while I doubt I've lost any pounds, maybe ounces, I feel better. My mood has been better. Today, even though I was struggling due to anxiety and demands of the upcoming week, I drove to the rail trail and rode my bike at a good pace for an hour. I was silly and skipped breakfast, but came home and ate my leftover brussel sprouts while waiting for a baked potato to cook in the oven.
I have a concert event for my client today, and they have a reception afterwards. Usually cake desserts and such. But there is usually fruit, so I may eat a few pieces of fruit but that's all I will eat.
I have a business trip this week, but I'm going to do my best to make healthy food choices...mostly just lay off the fried foods and carbs (french fries, etc.) and maintain reasonable portion sizes.
Thanks for this thread.
