Frankly, I don't see people reading this in the first place. At least, it won't be the people who count.

She is 45 and a big girl. If she is unreachable in accepting support, you might want to at least temporarily cut ties. If she is of danger then contact the authorities. If you truly feel this slander is going to affect your family negatively get a lawyer.
sorry but I disagree. there are many autobiographical books out there that have after the fact of being published and pulling in mega bucks were discredited and discovered to be hoax's, scams, works of fiction.... I mean look at many of the autobiographical books on child abuse and various mental disorders.. one that comes to mind is Sybil.... after Shirley Masons death it was discovered much of what was in that book was falsified. they discovered a whole basement of journals and artwork that proved that book was actually mostly a work of fiction. not the disorder but much of the other stuff in the book was debunked by her own admissions.

bottom line is publishers will publish anything these says. even the worst book ever will get ratings and pull in money for that company. it all depends on how the writer decides to promote that book. if someone is willing to go to a store and sign autographs people are going to see that book and buy it just to see what its about. if a book has an eye catching cover its going to get bought and read.. if someone gets their favorite authors to read it and write a critique for the book its going to get bought and read....

let me give you an example...

my neice's class wrote a book for a classroom assignment. they decided to fill it full of nonsense but make the cover rainbowed. They got a children's book author to write a statement for the book. the author wrote one sentence of one item they liked in the book... this book has only been in print for a month and has been read by 50,000 people. at a price of 20.00, and to date they have received hundreds of letters on how good their book was,

the children learned what it takes to write a book, what the publishing process was, where paper comes from and that dont under estimate their words and potential, one persons garbage, uninteresting not worth anything item is another persons greatest find,

my point like you I felt thebook wont go anywhere, but I have since learned just because I may not think the original poster will get anywhere with their book doesnt necessarily mean they wont... just because I feel the publishing companies wont publish such a book I recently learned they will.
