I believe that God gave each of us all we need to be the best that we can be. If we lack strength or courage in certain areas, He allows us to have difficulties in order for us to become stronger He also gave us free will. We have choices to make with that free will. You can and are the captain of your ship. If we take the wrong path, then He is there to help us get back on the right road, but you have to WANT to. In my experience, He seldom takes over for us completely... unless we ASK. He will open and close doors, but it is us that have to decide to walk through those doors.
