What attracts me to DBT vs. CBT is the skill building model, about emotional regulation and distress tolerance. CBT discusses those things too, but doesn't offer much in the way of skill building solutions. And I like the idea of adding meditation to my daily routine too. I can't meditate 2 hours a day, but I can learn to meditate for 15 to 20 minutes a day and that's better than nothing.

Identify and label emotions.
Identify obstacles to changing emotions.
Reduce vulnerability to emotion mind.
Increase positive emotional events.
Increase mindfulness to current emotions.
Take opposite action.
Apply distress tolerance techniques.

These are DBT techniques that I think could benefit me, despite not having a mental illness diagnosis other than suffering from anxiety.

To learn how not to overreact in stressful situations but to stay calm, I think, is definitely a valuable life skill. Why should I need to be labeled with a mental illness, to be able to learn DBT skills that could help me?
