While DBT was initially aimed for those who are diagnosed with personality disorder over the years it has proven very effective in many areas of mental health.
It deals with Mindfulness, Interpersonal effectiveness, Distress Tolerance and Emotional Regulation. While CBT tend to be aimed at our thoughts, DBT actually shows us ways to deal with issues in an practical sense. It is extremely comprehensive and leaves no rock unturned.
It is very hard work but can be very beneficial in turning a life around. If a person is constantly in a state of flux, "checking in with the facts" can help to put our fears into perspective.
It is something that can be done in a group setting. While talking to a T on a one to one basis is also helpful for specific situations.
