No, I don't think it was from a place of concern and caring, but rather making sure that I didn't act on these thoughts so that other employees were not traumatized.
And I don't think they truly consider it a big deal because I have not handed in the note yet, but will be working today. If they were truly worried, they likely would have made me get the note to ensure I was safe before allowing me to work again. I work with a knife all day and will be allowed to do so today, without the note.
Honestly getting the note has just been a huge inconvenience and is in my opinion, unnecessary (aside from ensuring that my accommodation is granted).
