It's very uncomfortable to feel always on the verge of an anxiety/panic attack.

I can relate to your story somewhat, as I had experienced anxiety and depression in high school. It can be very isolating. When I had first started meeting with a T and a pdoc, I was very intimidated. I'd felt like a freak. I became increasingly isolated from friends and activities.
Is there a reason you have not followed up for further evaluation and care?
Many people have difficulty talking with a therapist (T) and/or a psychiatrist (pdoc). In some cases, some have found it helpful to keep a diary to share and/or to write a letter to the practitioner which they share during an appointment.
Panic attacks are often self-perpetuating, in that the more you have, the more you are going to have. It's important to interrupt them as soon as possible.
What are your fears about treatment, either therapy and/or meds?
